How are the CO2 emissions from clothes calculated?

Calculations

  • Recycling one polyester t-shirt emits .155 kg of CO2 (3a)
  • The average weight of an adult’s t-shirt is 155 grams (3b)
  • 155g : 0.155 = 1000g : x
  • For every 1 kg of clothes recycled, 1 kg of CO2 emissions are saved.
